When the region’s highway network was built, Norristown was left without a convenient interchange. The combination of poor highway access and new mall development on the outskirts of town resulted in economic decline.
The Lafayette Street Corridor Project will directly connect Norristown to the highway network, making it quicker and easier for people to enter the downtown. Visitors can then enjoy the many assets Norristown has to offer, including the Schuylkill riverfront, county government offices, the Norristown Transportation Center, and the Schuylkill River and Chester Valley Trails.
