The Lafayette Street Corridor Project is important at a regional level.  It meets many of the goals of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission's (DVRPC) comprehensive plan for the Philadelphia region—Destination 2030: The Year 2030 Plan for the Delaware Valley—by bringing economic growth to Norristown to stabilize the community and reduce suburban sprawl.  This project will also meet two additional goals of the plan—improving highway-transit connections and reducing local traffic congestion.
