Community facilities form the often hidden backbone of the community, helping the county's economy, transportation system, and neighborhoods function effectively. These facilities include sewers, water lines, solid waste facilities, energy facilities, communication facilities, schools, colleges, day care centers, libraries, hospitals, nursing homes, emergency services, and other government facilitates. In general, we enjoy efficient and high-quality services that have grown adequately in response to our needs. As the county continues to grow, demand for these facilities will also grow. The Community Facilitates Plan helps coordinate the detailed planning that is done at the local institutional or service provider level with broader countywide growth and development issues. For example, planning for a new school should be done by the local school district, but because of the school's impact, its location and design should be consistent with municipal and county comprehensive plans.
